sharia Law adopted by Britain

September 15th 2008 21:17
I am sure that everyone has heard about sharia Law which Islamic women suffer so brutally from. No doubt everyone has heard about the honor killings of young girls, and women because of this law. Well Britain has caved into the Islamic population, and adopted sharia Law.

I wish I could say that it surprises me, Lester. But it doesn't. Many of the European countries have caved in and will bitterly regret it one day. They're foolish enough to think that "multiculturalism" will save them. It will only destroy them.

Well I note that not one person has commented on this paragraph within the timesonline article...
Jewish Beth Din courts operate under the same provision in the Arbitration Act and resolve civil cases, ranging from divorce to business disputes. They have existed in Britain for more than 100 years, and previously operated under a precursor to the act.

...or the fact that the sharia courts, which are really an alternative dispute resolution service (tribunal) only operate when both parties agree to the ruling. That is, either party may choose to simply go through the nominal legal system.

Hey S.L. this is a slide down a slippery slope with no soft landing. I would rather that Sharia Law would be outlawed instead of adopted.

Hey alt_ed you are right if it stays that way, but who is to insure that women actually get to choose since they are treated as property instead of humans that they are. You know as I know that the man in Sharia law rule the day.

I don't think it is so much a case as 'men running the show' as it is having men running the show whom lack the skills, education, and experience of a judge in the greater judicial system.

We have a system in Australia where by Aboriginal peoples can elect to be tried by a group of elders rather than flowing through the regular process.

Although I personally am an atheist, I have interacted and formed friendships with many people of the Islamic faith; I have not personally seen these people battered by their husbands, or forced beyond their will- this doesn't mean that women of the Islamic faith don't face this sort of thing, but then are there women of any faith who are completely protected from violence?
